100 dB – Jack hammer at 1 m

130 dB – Threshold of pain

150 dB – Jet engine at 30 m

200 dB – The volume at which my grandparents watch televison

    Mine too! Why is it they need the TV at that volume, yet if I whisper something even slightly offensive from half a mile away, they can pick it out?
