Win some, lose some…
Most of the (very) few people who follow the inane and mostly random spew that is the content of this world wide weblog internets site also know that I was up for a new role at work recently.
(Recently is relative - it started about 8 weeks ago and comprised 8 interviews and more than a couple reschedulings…) *deep breath*
I’ve been so anxious about it because of the nature of the position, the product, that it would require relocation to a new site where there would be lots of face-to-face interaction, and the chance to move back to a far more urban area.
Unfortunately it didn’t work out.
I’m on the waining end of all of the emotion that gets stirred up when you anticipate something and it turns out other than you had expected, but overall it was a really useful experience to go through. I received some great feedback and took away some insight in a few areas. Since I’m not the only person effected by the process of trying to fill this job that’s all I’ll share here. You can always contact me directly for more details…
Its also got me thinking a bunch personally and professionally. More on that over time perhaps…
Thanks to everyone who has been keeping their fingers crossed and encouraging me through the whole process.

big fat bummer. BIG FAT BUMMER. You’re always good at saying “yeah that stunk, but here’s what I can learn from it” which makes me envious and furious at the same time. Envious because it’s easier and more natural for me to take things personally and then be pissed at whomever denied me what I wanted, yet you look at both sides. Furious because I’d just LOVE to hear you say “f them, I should have gotten that, they suck”
You my dear are worlds ahead of me in many respects.

8 weeks, wow. Sorry to hear the unhappy news, my friend. (You should still consider Boston though. =) )
